Original story ABC December 4, 2016
Drivers have been urged not to treat the roads “like a playground” after a man believed to have been street racing was killed when his car flipped, hit a power pole and burst into flames in Melbourne’s north early yesterday morning.
Police believe the car had tried to overtake another while travelling at high speeds along Pascoe Vale Road at Pascoe Vale about 1:00am.
The driver then cut back across in front of the other car, clipped it and flipped, before hitting the pole and catching fire.
The man behind the wheel, who is yet to be identified, died at the scene.
